About Us

YESTERDAY, TODAY, and TOMORROW:

The MSIA began as an informal group of newly-appointed incubator Directors.  This group quickly realized that each was trying to "re-invent" the wheel in creating working policies and solving problems.  As this informal group expanded they realized the benefit of forming a cohesive group that supported entrepreneurial efforts, educated the public, and worked to enhance the regional capabilities.  Later the group decided to take the next step and file as a non-profit organization to enable the group to apply for multi-state grants in order to continue to promote new business development in the region.

Services Offered

Many rural areas and smaller communities would like to start an incubator.  Our members have experience in the steps necessary to do feasibility studies, site identification, budget preparations, start-up documentation, and a number of other related activities.  The MSIA can put together a team of incubator professionals to work with your organization or community and help you get started for a fraction of the cost that for-profit consultation firms may charge.  It is important to understand that while incubators are an important part of small-business development, not every community or area will be a good fit for an incubator.  The members of the MSIA represent a very broad scope of incubator types but, as a whole, our group is most familiar with operations within the Appalachian region.  As such, we respectfully request that inquiries and requests for consultation support be limited to those communities that fall within the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) service area.  Please feel free to contact us regarding services and fees.  We exist to help small businesses grow.
