The "Small Business & Industry Incubator” at 144 Industrial Park Drive in Waynesville is a place to develop and grow new businesses.  Owned by Smoky Mountain Development Corporation, a non-profit 501(c)4, certified development corporation, to facilitate the SBA 504 fixed asset loan program, SMDC operates a 17,000 square foot business "incubator" in Waynesville that leases space to start-up companies and provides technical assistance and business counseling.  It was the very first Incubator in the state of North Carolina in 1985.  SMDC’s mission is to participate in and enhance economic development within a 10 county region by managing the incubator, which creates/retains jobs, while tenants incubate themselves and graduate into the community.

The incubator is known as the Appalachian Enterprise Center (AEC) and it is actually a small business center. The building is 8000 square feet, and currently houses Appalachian State University’s Energy Office and SBTDC, as well as a field office for SCORE. Seventeen (17) incubator offices are available along with conference facilities.

The mission of the Bluefield State College Research and Development Corporation is to serve as a catalyst for aggressive community and economic development through high quality education, productive partnerships, and joint ventures that increase educational expertise, collaborative research, and innovative business development fostering diverse employment opportunities.  The Small Business Incubator, located at 704 Bland Street, in Bluefield, WV is designed to create a dynamic environment where businesses can locate and receive special assistance in areas such as product and technology development, sales, marketing, and assistance in raising capital.  In addition, the facility offers the public an auditorium, kitchen facility, computer training lab, classrooms, and meeting rooms.

The ETSU Innovation Lab is a small business incubator serving startup and early stage technology companies. We help entrepreneurs create good-paying jobs and wealth by providing facilities, business services and support during their critical early years, when the majority of small businesses fail. The Innovation Lab works in cooperation with East Tennessee State University’s College of Business and Technology, and is located one mile off the main ETSU campus at 2109 West Market Street, Johnson City, TN.

With the completion of our new $2 million wing, the Innovation Lab now has office suites, dry labs and wet labs available and we are actively recruiting startup and early stage technology companies as tenants. We are also looking for potential angel capital investors and mentors to join our networks and work with our tenant companies.

The Morehead State University Regional Enterprise Center was designed to advance interaction between the University and business constituents.  The Center's Business Incubator was designed to create a dynamic environment where businesses can locate and receive special assistance in areas such as product and technology development, sales, marketing, and assistance in raising capital.

The Enterprise Center provides state of the art conference space, clerical support, meeting rooms, teleconferencing capabilities, IT support, and some of the best broadband availability in any facility available for private business use anywhere in Eastern Kentucky.  MSU REC staff recognize that small businesses find raising suitable startup funds a challenge.  To address this, they’ve created and work closely with a 501C3 non-profit headquartered in its facility offering small business loans to eligible tenants

The Pioneer Center was established in 1999 with the purpose of providing a sheltered environment conducive to the growth and development of small businesses. Our business incubator assists new and developing entrepreneurial companies by providing a nurturing early-stage environment, with flexible leases at affordable rates, plus business services such as fax/copying, conference areas, and management/clerical support.

The Virginia Highlands Small Business Incubator provides a facility tailored to assist small businesses and manufacturers as they develop, grow and graduate from our facility into traditional industrial and commercial space.
The Incubator’s focus is business and economic development in Washington County and the Town of Abingdon, Virginia.
