Congratulations to Mountain South athlete Amelia Phillips who competed last week at the 2024 Pan-American Youth Weightlifting Championship in Guayaquil, Ecuador, where she had a perfect 6-for-6 day finishing with personal best lifts to sweep Gold to become the Pan-American Youth Champion in the 49kg Women U15 division!
Amelia lifted personal records of 62kg/137lbs in the snatch and 82kg/180lbs in Clean & Jerk for a 144kg/317lb Total, and set all new Mountain South Youth, Junior, and Senior records and Arizona Youth & Junior state records!
She also won Bronze medals in Clean & Jerk and Total in the U17 division, and was part of Team USA’s 2nd Place Women’s Team finishes for both U15 & U17
Amelia was selected to Team USA for this year’s Youth Pan-Ams after winning the USA Weightlifting Youth National Championship in Pittsburgh, PA last June!
Amelia is from Arizona and is coached by Eric Bramwell (USAW International Coach), and trains in Queen Creek as part of the Power & Grace Performance Youth Weightlifting Team. She is also a Varsity Cheerleader at Basha High School in Chandler, AZ.
